The second edition includes many improvements. Each lesson in the revised edition features a new “Culture Notes” section designed to enhance students’ knowledge of Japan through information on Japanese culture and daily life. The vocabulary has also been updated with more modern and useful vocabulary. Grammar points presented in the volume are the same, though the explanations have been made even easier to understand. In the revised edition, negative forms of adjectives and noun phrases that are more common in everyday life have also been updated. The number of communicative practice material such as dialogues have been increased to give students more grammar practice and the readings in the Reading and Writing section have also been updated to make them more relevant to modern Japan. Genki is my favorite Japanese learning textbook. They remodeled them within the past year and I was terribly jealous. These are the books I used to study japanese in college. Some of the words are outdated in the original books but this edition is perfect! :)
