Easy to understand

As the main textbook is entirely in Japanese this will be essential. Pick up the regular english version and try to stay away from the romaji if at all possible. Explanations are easy to understand, and it contains nice vocabulary lists at the start of each chapter which matches the audio cds. Also each chapter contains additional exercises/examples not found in the main textbook to help cement understanding.
